China Southern has announced it will launch a new direct route connecting Beijing and Dhaka - the capital of Bangladesh.


During a launch ceremony in Dhaka, the Guangzhou-based carrier announced it will operate two weekly flights between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal Airport starting July 15. The carrier plans to increase the flight frequency to daily.


China Southern stated Airbus A321neo aircraft with 199 seats – 12 Business and 187 Economy – will be used on the new route.


The new Daxing-Dhaka route will add to China Southern's current services to Bangladesh, where it operates 18 weekly flights between the country and China. The airline currently operates flights to Dhaka from its main hub at Guangzhou.
